Blue Innovations Group (BIG) Unveils Revolutionary R30 Electric Luxury Power Boat
St. Petersburg, FL – In a groundbreaking move, John Vo, the former global head of manufacturing for Tesla, has set his sights on revolutionizing the boating industry. Vo’s latest venture, Blue Innovations Group (BIG), is poised to bring the kind of technological innovation typically associated with Silicon Valley to the sunny shores of St. Petersburg.

The show’s star is the R30, a remarkable 30-foot all-electric luxury powerboat generating a staggering 800 horsepower. Residents of St. Petersburg will have the chance to experience this technological marvel firsthand at the grand launch event scheduled for Saturday, December 16.
Having relocated from Northern California to Tampa Bay, Vo founded BIG in late 2021 with a clear mission: disrupt the boating industry, much like Tesla revolutionized automotive manufacturing. And it seems that the mission is right on track.

“The public launch event will be the first opportunity for people to witness the product without it looking like an engineering prototype,” Vo stated. Extensive testing has already taken place around the St. Pete Pier, ensuring the R30’s readiness for the market.
What makes the R30 exceptional is that it’s the first electric 30-foot day cruiser designed and manufactured in Florida. It boasts a 221 kWh battery pack powering dual motors for 800 horsepower, offering an impressive eight-hour runtime on a single charge. Notably, the R30 is also equipped with a rooftop solar array, perfect for extended journeys with its air-conditioned cabin, kitchenette, and bathroom featuring a bidet.

Beyond these features, the R30 offers a “stern ocean terrace,” an integrated infotainment system, and remote access. BIG is committed to environmental sustainability, emphasizing that its propulsion system is both “pollution-free” and virtually silent.
Vo has plans to keep an R30 available for public tours and test drives within the city, envisioning it as a community asset. His belief in the global appeal of St. Petersburg could propel BIG’s brand awareness far beyond Tampa Bay.

The R30’s initial price point is approximately $300,000, competitively priced compared to luxury boats of similar size but lacking its horsepower, amenities, and technological advances. Vo aims to make this innovation accessible to a broader audience, with plans for a four-model lineup, including a more affordable 25-foot version priced around $150,000.
Furthermore, Vo’s vision extends to sustainability, with the boat designed to pay for itself over time through reduced fuel, maintenance, and repair costs. A lifetime hull warranty and fast-charging stations will further enhance the R30’s appeal.
BIG is currently accepting reservations for the R30, with consumer deliveries set to commence by October 2024. This electric boat startup, founded by a former Tesla executive, is poised to make waves in the industry and represents a testament to American innovation and cutting-edge technology emerging from the state of Florida.
