According to the latest Weekly Smartphone Market Share report from Counterporint Research, vivo is now the leader in terms of market share in China. The report covers week 11 of the current year (March 8-14) and awards vivo a 24% market share. Oppo comes in at a close second place with a 21% market share while Huawei has fallen to 15% in third place.
Chinese market share performance stats for weeks 8 to 13
Counterpoint lists the strong sales performance of vivo’s Y30 and Y31 series as well as the recently launched vivo S9 5G and S9e 5G as key contributors to the brand’s rise to the top. The report also recognizes vivo’s push for 5G as a key contributor to its popularity among users with 76% of all vivo phones sold now sporting next-gen connectivity.
The brand’s coherent product lineup has also played a key role with the NEX and and X-series serving as the flagship offerings while the X,S and Y models alongside the iQOO sub-brand serve the midrange and budget end of the market.
Oppo is still riding high after being crowned as the largest smartphone brand last month and surpassing Huawei which has continued to decline after the hard-hitting US sanctions.
